Voici le drapeau de l'Éthiopie avec le lion, symbole même de ce pays. "Lion" se traduit par "Anbessa" en amharique, langue officielle du pays.

Remarque: Le drapeau est aussi connu sans le lion et il est actuellement avec une étoile au milieu.

La région Amhara couvre 156 960 km² et sa capitale est Bahr Dar. Pendant le moyen-âge éthiopien, la région était divisée en différentes provinces indépendantes (Gondar, Gojam, Begemeder..) contrôlées par des Ras ou des Negus.

Cette région, voisine de l'Érythrée, couvre 50 286 km² et sa capitale est Mekele. On trouve dans cette région, la ville d'Axum mais aussi le Ras Dashan, point culminant d'Éthiopie.
